Fatima-Zahra Barnes
I’m Fatima-Zahra, I'm a mother of two and I teach Hypnobirthing, Pregnancy & Postnatal Yoga and Yoga. I am deeply committed to supporting you to uncover your power and this underpins all my teaching. My aim is to support you to step into the driver's seat of your life, your birth and parenthood!
I have always been a teacher at heart and I will forever be a student. My life experiences in the corporate world and in motherhood and parenting as well as my work with expectant parents inform my teaching and keep it grounded.
Yoga showed me a way to heal, calm and self-regulate both in the busyness of corporate life in the City of London as well as in pregnancy and motherhood. Whether it is a breath technique, a mindfulness and gratitude practice, a pose or an affirmation, these tools are a daily source for stepping into the driver seat of your life.
I qualified as a yoga teacher with Katy Appleton of appleyoga (200hr). Then, as I was pregnant with my first, I qualified as a pregnancy yoga teacher with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli. The teachings of Yoga as applied to life and motherhood were invaluable and life changing. However, it was during my second pregnancy that I truly stepped up to gain control of my birth experience. I learned (and diligently practiced) hypnobirthing and had a very positive second birth. The experience was so transformative that I qualified as a KGHypnobirthing teacher (HbDip-KGH) to be able to share the joy of birth. I am passionate about Perinatal Mental Health and it is important to me to teach from a trauma informed lens (Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy Certificate with The Embody Lab, 2022).
